How to measure the finish’s resistance?
22 février 2018
If you would like to know how much more resistant than the other is a finish, you have to look at the Taber’s test results usually available on the product’s technical sheet.
But how to understand well the abrasion resistance?
First, the finish has to go through the Taber test. This test involves subjecting the finish to a continuous friction using two rotating discs. Each disc is doing 1000 revolutions (turns) on itself. The floor sample on which the finish is applied is weighted before and after the test.
Smaller is the difference between the 2 weights; the most resistant is the finish. The weight loss is usually measured in milligrams.
To make sure the tests are valid and objectively done, make sure that the tests presented has been made by an experts and independent company, that the resin (solid) percentage is identified and that the hedging power is considered in the results pondering.
Hoping that it will help you to compare and choose your finish.
