1- I'd like to re-finish my floors, but I would not want to leave the house for days. Is it possible?+-
FINITEC EXPERT water-based finishes turn out ideal because they are practically odourless and not toxic, you do not have to leave your house anymore. Furthermore, they quickly dry, which allows to make the work in the single day.
2- What is the difference between a water-based finish and an oil-based finish?+-
Solvents contained in oil finishs serve as a kind of carrier for the ingredients that form the finish (ex: urethane) and are released into the air during application and throughout the period of drying, leaving the floor only with the finish. In addition to being harmful to your health, they also release an unpleasant odor. These solvents are harmful to the environment because they contain large amounts of VOC, which also forces you to leave your home for several days. In contrast, the water contained in the water-based finishs also serves as a carrier for these same ingredients, but as it is water, the drying takes the form of evaporation. The water that evaporates during application and throughout the drying period is safe for you and your family. You do not need to leave your home, because the water-based finishes are low in VOC. In addition, they dry much faster than oil finish, allowing to perform the work in one day. Opting for a water-based finish does not mean skimping on performance. In the case of FINITEC EXPERT water-based finishs, their performance far exceed those from oil-based products.
3- What quantity of VOC (Volatile organic compound) do your finishs contain?+-
All the EXPERT FINITEC products are below the limit demanded by Environment Canada.
4- Can I apply your finishs over a older water-based or oiled-based finish?+-
Yes. FINITEC EXPERT finishs are ideal to restore floors finished with water or oil-based finishs.
5- Is it possible to finish my floors without sanding them?+-
FINITEC EXPERT finishs apply over any types of finishs. Slightly roughen the surface is enough.
6- My hardwood floor or floorboard is so much worned out in the high-traffic areas that it has grey spots. What's to be done?+-
The grey or black wood indicates us that it does not remain any more finish at this place so the wood is less protected against the humidity or the dirt. Sand the surface completely to remove any tracks of grey and then apply a FINITEC EXPERT finish of your choice.
7- Are your finishs going to turn yellow in time?+-
